The waiting time distribution linked with the binomial distribution is known as the negative binomial distribution. In a similar way, the negative hypergeometric distribution can be thought of as the hypergeometric distribution’s waiting time distribution. This distribution will be defined and the key theoretical results will be summarised. Applications of the negative hypergeometric distribution will be illustrated and described, with results and outputs (using R).
