Studies on Behaviour of Regular and Irregular Tall Structures Subjected to Earthquake Loading

Multi-story buildings constructed of reinforced concrete are dangerously affected by seismic forces, and they fail during an earthquake. The irregularity in building structures is the main cause of this failure. In this research, the reaction of regular and irregular building structures with plan irregularity in seismic zone V is investigated. In this study, the Response Spectrum Method was used to analyse a ten-story structure utilising ETABS 2015 and the code IS 1893:2002. (part 1). Regular and irregular buildings are analysed at the same time. In zone V, a height of 35.5 metres is required. During an earthquake, the reactions of structures are compared in terms of maximum storey displacement, storey drift, storey stiffness, period and frequency of modes. There are now four models available. The first is a regular construction, and the others are irregular structural models with varied shapes but the same area. An attempt is made to investigate the response of building structures to various loads and combinations of loads. Maximum load combinations considering the primary loads are used to compare the findings (LL, DL, WL, and EQL). The investigation takes into account a total of four Configuration models.
