Role of Silver Stream in Healing Diabetic Ulcers

This affiliate aims to compare influence of dressing with white stream solution against povidone iodine in healing of diabetic ulcers. Diabetic ulcers affect melancholy, mortality & status of life (QOL) of diabetic cases. Contamination of ulcers with pathogenic organisms upsets healing process . Thus wound debridement and fertilizer using antiseptics, authorizes an important aspect of situation. Povidone iodine is a widely used antiseptic for wound dressings. Silver stream, answer containing ‘silver ions, menthol, glycerol & surfactant’ has proved promising results in incessant DFU. In this study, 100 patients accompanying diabetic ulcers were randomly divided into 2 groups of 50 each. Group A taken, ulcer fertilizer with silver stream answer & group B with povidone iodine, each 48 hours. Effect of drugs on ulcer content & healing was evaluated at 2 weeks breaks for 8 weeks or till ulcer cured .Patients of Group A & B were comparable in conditions of their age , sex distribution, event of diabetes and pretreatment mean ulcer sizes. Maximum subjects were in age group of 51-60 years. About 3/4th of inmates had spontaneous attack of ulcer in two together the groups. A progressive significant decline in mean ulcer magnitude occured in both the groups but % age reduction was much more gang A (89.51%) than in group B (33%) at 8 weeks (P<0.05). There was important difference in restorative rates in group A & B. All patients gang A responded to bright stream treatment, though answer was partial in 10%. Patients having weak glycemic control. In contrast, in povidone iodine group, 12% did not replied, 42% had partial response & only 46% presented complete response.Response rate accompanying silver stream is considerably higher than povidone iodine. Silver stream dressing causes considerably more reduction in mean lesion size at end of 8 weeks situation than povidone iodine.
