OHVIRA Syndrome: A Rare Congenital Anomaly Characterized by Uterine Didelphys with Obstructed Hemivagina and Ipsilateral Renal Anomaly
The goal of this case report is to describe and discuss a rare instance of OHVIRA, also known as Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome, which is a rare congenital Mullerian duct anomaly defined by a uterine anomaly with blocked hemivagina and an ipsilateral renal anomaly. We discuss the case of a 16-year-old girl who developed cyclical lower abdomen pain three years following menarche. This patient’s initial ultrasound and computed tomography revealed the traditional triad of results. The patient exhibited a missing right kidney, compensatory enlargement of the left kidney, and a uterine didelphys with right sided hematometrocolpos, indicating an obstructed hemivagina. Her problems were relieved after she underwent a vaginal septostomy procedure. Because the diagnosis was made earlier in the disease, before significant blockage and hematometrocolpos developed, our case is notable.
