Novel crop science to improve yield and resource use efficiency in water-limited agriculture

Density and Cultivar Effects on the Biomass and Crop Growth Rate of Upland Rice in Uyo Southeastern Nigeria

Aims: to guage population densities and cultivars on the biomass and crop rate of growth (CGR) of upland rice and their correlation with grain yield.

Study Design: A Factorial on randomised complete block style.

Place and period of Study: The Teaching and analysis Farm of the college of Agriculture, University of Uyo, between might twelve, 2009 and Sep thirty, 2010.

Methodology: Six sowing densities; one,600,000, 1,066,666, 800,000, 640,000, 533,333, and 2,054,435 plants ha-1 were combined with 5 cultivars of rice; FAROs forty three, 46, 55, fifty six and an area tracheophyte – Otokongtian. Treatment combos were replicated 3 times. harmful samples were collected at three, 6, 9, 12, and fifteen weeks when sowing (WAS), oven-dried at 80°C to constant weight and also the biomass and CGR determined. knowledge were analyzed with Genstat Discovery Edition four and means that compared by Fisher’s protected least vital distinction at five-hitter chance.
